"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." -John 13:34-35
i had such good intentions of posting a cute pic of our favorite valentine this morning; but alas, the combo of a clogged toilet and food poisoning has taken priority instead (what are the odds that your toilet will quit at just the moment you need it most?!). our family has officially postponed v-day until monday when we'll head to cracker barrel for breakfast(a treat here in the northeast), exchange cards, and actually eat something other than a few pieces of toast (ps- haven is totally healthy and cuter than ever).
in the spirit of the day and the inspiration of
this site, i did want to brag on a friend of ours whom we love dearly. this morning, way too early for a saturday-much-less-valentine's-day,
kevin showed up on our doorstep with everything you could need to clear a toilet and the full intention of taking care of the issue for us. i shooed him away claiming i could handle it with the right supplies (ha!) and thanked him for his kindness. after a full day of adding to the problem and having no success with the plunger, liquid plumber, or closet auger, kevin reappeared to our rescue with the-mother-of-all-plungers which saved the day! without hesitation or an "i'll help when it's convenient for me" attitude, kevin sacrificially came to our aid twice today.
we are so thankful for our friend and his selflessness and the perfect reminder of what love looks like in a world where it is too often masked under expensive dinners and boxes of chocolate. and the end. :)
